Cortez Church of Christ

Cortez, Colorado

sharing God's love in the Four Corners

What a beautiful sight! Hesperus Peak is glistening in white, showing off the first snowfall of the season. Just below, the mountain is aglow with the red and gold leaves of the Aspens and Poplars. Just beyond, the sky is a dark blue, as a passing storm drifts away. Father God, you done good!

What a beautiful sight! Around my office are displayed photos of my family. One is a portrait of my beautiful wife in her wedding gown. Another shows my three precious girls sitting on a pile of logs at the Telluride ski area. Another is an image of Elizabeth wearing her graduation garb (from Kindergarten). Another shows my wife and children standing in the snow on Red Mountain Pass. At the risk of sounding boastful, they are cherished photos of those I love the most. Father God, you done good!

Sadly, our line of sight is often distracted. Instead of marveling at the beautiful people and sights with which our Father blesses us, our attention is consumed with the trials and tribulations of everyday life. Certainly, attention on such things is warranted and necessary, but our eyes are capable of seeing both the beautiful and the mundane, and our minds are big enough to contemplate life's troubles while not forgetting the blessings.

So, let us not remain depressed over storms that have passed (or that remain overhead). Let us open our eyes to the beauty God has brought into our lives. Father God, you done good!
