
HISTORY
The Dove’s Nest Early Care & Education Center is located in Dove Creek, Colorado, the county seat for Dolores County: an agricultural community in the Colorado Plateau-Four Corners region of the state. Dolores County is sparsely populated with a population of 1,840 and the largest town, Dove Creek, has a population of 690. The majority of services are in the town of Cortez, located 35 miles south, which has a population of 8,100.
The Dove’s Nest is a non-profit
facility established to provide a safe place for parents to leave their children
while working. The Center opened on October 14, 1996, with a grant from the
Colorado Department of Human Services, the Dolores County Commissioners, and
wide-spread community support. IT IS THE ONLY LICENSED EARLY CARE FACILITY IN
THE COUNTY with a daily attendance of 20 and serving a total of 52 children from
39 families.
